LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock's Southeast Water Reclamation Plant had an unauthorized discharge of wastewater into the Canyon Lake System.
The city is obligated by law to report the discharge to state officials and to the public. The discharge was caused by a partial power failure Friday in the reclamation plant. A written statement from the city says "The wastewater was treated; it was not treated to stream quality."
An estimated 150,000 gallons was discharged. Lubbock says the downstream communities of Buffalo Springs and Ransom Canyon should not be affected.
