U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison was in Lubbock on Sunday to cheer on the Lady Raiders. Before the game, she took a few minutes with the media to comment on the state of the war. Hutchison said that while her spirit is at the game, her heart is in Fort Bliss.
"I think it's the worst news that a parent or a wife or husband could receive, that their loved one is a prisoner of war, but I know that every single one of the men and women in our military that are on that dark side of the earth today realize that their cause is for their own children and their families, that we must protect American citizens, and they are doing it and they're on the front lines, and I couldn't be more proud of them, but I know the pain that their loved ones must feel and my heart goes out to them," U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison said.
Senator Hutchison also said that she hopes to talk to the families of these prisoners of war later this week.
