LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - NewsChannel 11 has learned from sources that Dan Sanders will step down as C.E.O. of United Supermarkets. Details are hard to come by, but an official spokesperson promised to get back us on Tuesday.
United has, by all public accounts, done well under Sanders. United is expanding its Lubbock-based distribution center. The company began introducing its Market Street brand to the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex in 2003 and currently it has six stores in that market.
Sanders first came to Lubbock as an air force pilot, training at Reese Air Base. He moved back to Lubbock when taking a job as United's Chief Marketing Officer. He was promoted to CEO in 2004. He published a book about leadership in 2007 called "Built To Serve".
