Area Band and Cheerleader Day at Lady Raider game

LUBBOCK, TX The Texas Tech Athletics Department will have Area Band and Cheerleader Day on Sun., Feb. 28, at the women's basketball game against Oklahoma State at 12 p.m.

"We want to give area band groups and cheerleading squads an opportunity to visit Texas Tech as well as see our very own Court Jester band and spirit squads," said head women's basketball coach Kristy Curry.

Area band and cheerleaders are invited to come cheer on the Lady Raiders as they take on the Cowgirls at the United Spirit Arena. Texas Tech wants to give students an opportunity to experience a collegiate game day environment while having fun as a group.

"The bands and cheerleaders add so much to a game day environment and we want these groups to know how much we appreciate their hard work and dedication throughout the year at their schools," Curry stated.

All band members and cheerleaders will be given a special ticket rate of $5 per student. We strongly encourage band members to wear their official shirts, windsuit tops or pullovers and cheerleaders to wear their uniforms as well as bring their poms. The first 200 registered will receive a free popcorn and drink coupon. Both groups do not have to attend together.

To register a band or cheerleading group, contact Garrett Tressler, at 806-742-1195 or garrett.tressler@ttu.edu.

The deadline to register is Thurs., Feb. 25th, by 5 p.m.
