LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – A warning for breast cancer patients taking Tamoxifen. A study finds the popular anti-depressant Paxil may block the effects of Tamoxifen, increasing a woman's risk of death from breast cancer.
However, experts stress that women should not stop taking Tamoxifen. In fact, there's not a problem with either drug by itself, for some reason it is just the combination of Paxil with Tamoxifen that appears dangerous to breast cancer patients. They say if a physician feels a patient on Tamoxifen needs an anti-depressant, they may want to consider another option.
