LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A home burglary leads Lubbock County authorities to the bottom of a lake. Sheriff's investigators along with Texas Rangers searched the lake bottom near Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Canyon Lakes Dr. Saturday morning, looking for several stolen guns.  They used sonar equipment mounted to a Texas Parks and Wildlife boat.

Authorities say someone broke into a retired law enforcement officer's home back in October and stole 12 guns. Lubbock Police arrested a suspect last week and traced a weapon found on the suspect back to the October burglary. Investigators then recovered seven more guns in the Canyon Lake.

Saturday they tried to recover the remaining four. "We do believe that with this reliable information that we've received that we will be able to come to a successful closure of this case, but there are other who still know and have information that can help us in brining those that are responsible for this burglary to justice," Lubbock County Sheriff Chief Deputy Cody Scott said.

Authorities did not recover the remaining weapons Saturday, but they expect to do another search with divers soon.

In the meantime, they ask anyone with information about this case to call Crime Line at (806)741-1000. You can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
