SLATON, TX (KCBD) - The Slaton community stepped up to help out one of their own Saturday.   Volunteers spent the morning picking up the pieces for as a family who lost everything to a house fire a few weeks ago.

St. Joseph's, Knights of Columbus, and County Commissioners came out to help clean up what was left of the home.  "It means a lot to them, I know, that's what we're about as a community, as a family, to help someone in need," Lubbock County Commissioner Mark Heinrich said.

Volunteers hoped to completely clean up and level off the lot for the family. Coming up tonight on NewsChannel 11 at 10 we'll have more on the cleanup efforts and what the community of Slaton is doing to support this family.
