LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – A Plainview man is indicted for attempted capital murder. Ramiro Chavira also faces charges of aggravated assault of a public servant and attempted arson.
Chavira led officers on a chase in December and ran at least two police cars off the road. Two days later he was spotted again and taken into custody. Olton Police Chief Joe Banda shot and disabled Chavira as he was trying to escape. Prior to the first chase, officers were trying to take Chavira into custody for violation of a protective order.
According to media accounts including the Olton Enterprise, Chavira remains locked up in the Lamb County jail in lieu of a $400,000 bond.
