LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - LISD officials have issued a news release about the accident that involved a school bus and a pickup truck that happened Thursday just before noon.

The statement reads as follows:

Witnesses at the scene reported a pick-up ran a red light on Ave. Q and collided with a school bus traveling west on 32nd street shortly before noon today. Thirty-two students from J. T. Hutchinson Middle School were on the bus. All students were all able to walk off the bus and emergency personnel reported all injuries appeared to be minor.

Six students were transported by ambulance to Covenant Medical Center with what appeared to be minor injuries. Seven additional students were taken by bus to University Medical Center to be evaluated as a precautionary measure. One student was transported by a parent for medical evaluation. The remaining students returned to school. The students, in grades six, seven and eight, were returning to Hutchinson from the Lomax Center where they take classes in dance and gymnastics.

Neither the driver of the pick-up nor the driver of the bus was injured and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.
