Eckles and Shallowater ISD reach deal, not coaching in 2010

By Pete Christy | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – KCBD NewsChannel 11 has learned that Mike Eckles will not be coaching the Shallowater baseball team in 2010.

He will be kept on paid leave from his coaching duties, but Eckles will still be an employee of the Shallowater district and will still teach while receiving his coaching stipend.

News broke earlier this week that Eckles had been put on paid leave after a dispute with the school district's athletic director. Shallowater baseball is ranked 5th best in the state. Dr. Kenneth Border has been asked to coach the team for 2010.
