Disciplinary actions of veterinarians found after check of records

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Checking up on your doctor is easy, but what about looking into your pet's veterinarian? KCBD NewsChannel 11's Tiffany Pelt found out how you can make sure your pet is in the best hands.

Our pets are often considered part of our family, so how do we know whether or not to trust our pet's vet? After doing some research, we learned that out of the 51 vets in Lubbock, five had disciplinary actions brought against them.

The Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners give detailed information on the vets' violations. Some ending in the suspension of their veterinarian licenses for a period of time, others just having to pay fines.

What should you pay attention to when choosing a veterinarian, and are there warning signs of a bad clinic?

Coming up tonight after the Olympics, find out who those vets are that have gotten into trouble with the veterinary board and ways you can assure your furry friends are cared for by the best.
