LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will perform several lane closures along the southbound frontage road on northwest Loop 289 Monday, Feb. 22, evening.
The overnight closures are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. and will give project contractor C & C Construction the space needed to accommodate equipment to place 16 concrete beams for the new Slide Road overpass.
TxDOT will begin the operation by reducing the frontage road to two-lanes. As work progresses to the northernmost part of the bridge, the frontage road will be reduced to one-lane of traffic.
All frontage road lanes will be open to traffic by 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb 23. Northbound frontage road traffic will not be affect. Message boards informing motorists of the scheduled lane closures are in place.
The work is part of the Northwest Passage project that will make more than $28 million of improvements, including widening the Loop from four to six lanes, rebuilding the 4th Street overpass and building a new bridge at Slide Road. Work will take place weather permitting.
