Police chase reaches speeds in excess of 100 mph Saturday Night

By James Clark | email

MULESHOE, TX (KCBD) – A high speed chase Saturday night through Bailey, Hockley and Cochran Counties ended with a suspect crashing his pickup truck.

It started in Muleshoe at a Quincinera.  A man was accused of violating a protective order.  Officers chased him at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.

At one point the Cochran County Sheriff's dispatcher was able to reach him by cell phone.  That's when the suspect threatened suicide.  Officers now think he was probably bluffing.  He crashed about two miles east of 1585 and Highway 214.

Late Sunday night officials identified the suspect as Jesse Olivas of Muleshoe. Officials say once he was medically cleared he was taken into custody.  Charges against him include aggravated assault with motor vehicle.
