The Texas Senate has taken a hard stance against speeders. Under a proposed bill a person caught driving more than 25 mph over the speed limit could be fined up to $500, that's up from just $200 under the current law. The bill now goes to the Texas House.

One state senator says Texas leads the nation in traffic fatalities, with 38% of those caused by speeding.
