LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Wrecks kept local authorities and first responders across the South Plains busy Tuesday morning. Fortunately, the sun came by afternoon and started to melt some of the snow and ice, but there were still plenty of slick spots to beware of.
Plows tried to keep the roads clear Tuesday morning, but slick conditions caused multiple accidents along Interstate 27 and backed up traffic. On ramps also backed up when cars could not make it up the incline. Good Samaritans helped push and pull several people up the ramps along I-27 and Spur 327 where police closed the south Loop 289 on ramp for a short time due to slick conditions.
These conditions also caused a pick-up to roll out near the airport at I-27 and Regis Ave. Fortunately, there did not appear to be any serious injuries, which when you look at the truck is pretty amazing.
TxDOT flashed warnings of different wrecks along the loop, but until things clear off, there's still the possibility of more. So, you're going to want to be alert, slow-down, and pay attention as you're driving Tuesday.
