Abernathy house fire sends one to the hospital

ABERNATHY, TX (KCBD) - A Tuesday afternoon house fire sent an Abernathy woman to a Lubbock hospital.

The fire broke out around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon. Fire crews from Abernathy and New Deal responded to the blaze. Investigators believe the fire started in either the kitchen or a bathroom. The cause is still under investigation.

"When we got the call and were notified someone was in the house, I'm not sure of her injuries but when we got here the individual was in the front yard being cared for by some on lookers and then EMS transported that subject to the hospital," said State Fire Marshal Kelly Vandygriff.

Coming up tonight after the Olympics, we will hear from the neighbors who police say called 911 and pulled the victim out of her burning house.
