LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Are you milk intolerant? You may not be, even if you think you are, according to experts meeting at a National Institutes of Health Conference this week.
They decided many people assume their abdominal issues are related to dairy, and they're cutting out milk, cheese and yogurt. Most people do this to avoid gas and stomach pain, but the experts say they're missing out on essential calcium and vitamin d, when the problem could actually be something else.
They suggest people talk to their doctor first before deciding they're lactose intolerant because there could be other options.
