LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Angry neighbors are fighting back against a decision by state regulators.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality approved two concrete batch plants at 401 Avenue K. TCEQ dismissed neighborhood protests as being too late. Carlos Quirino Jr, Guadalupe Neighborhood Association President, says the first public notice came out just before Thanksgiving and was only in English, not Spanish.
Quirino feels like residents were not given a fair chance to protest. He says neighbors are holding a public meeting Wednesday at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 102 North Avenue P to talk about possibly raising $5,000 to hire an attorney.
