Plans To Develop North Lubbock In The Works

Lubbock's growth is moving in a new direction. In an effort to grow North Lubbock, the North Loop Development Plan was announced Monday. It includes approximately 1,000 acres of land. It will be used for businesses commercial and medical growth, and single and multi-family houses. It will also include shopping centers, hotels and entertainment facilities, like a movie theater.

Some of the construction has already started, but overall they expect it to take about five years. "As we all started looking at this area for development at the same time, and looking at road expansions and drainage issues, we started seeing that it made a lot of sense to master plan this whole area and coordinate efforts," said North Park Project Developer, Kevin Glasheen.

This effort will include local construction companies and sub contractors. It will be in the Lubbock Independent School District and add millions of dollars to the tax base.
