LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Every week KCBD NewsChannel 11 has made it our mission to let you know about the latest health inspections.

On the menu eight top performers and one fast food joint that didn't fare so well.

Let's start with something a little hard to digest, the only low performer this week is Weinerschnitzel at 4809 34th Street.

The restaurant was cited with 5 critical violations.

  • Corn dogs and hot dogs were stored at 55 degrees, that's at least 10 degrees above food temperature requirements.
  • An employee's cell phone was on a cutting board.
  • An ice scoop was stored on a soiled soda fountain rack,
  • A can opener had a soiled blade and
  • One ice bin had a lid that was soiled with mold.

According to the report, all critical violations were corrected at the time of the inspection.

A helping of good news comes in the form of the top performers this week, eight area restaurants had no critical violations.

82nd Street Cafe at 3416 82nd Street locks in with a perfect score.

In the mood for a burger? Buns over Texas at 3402 73rd Street and Burger King at 1801 Marsha Sharp Freeway both sizzle at the top of our list.

If your taste buds are thinking Chinese or barbecue this weekend, check out Legends Chinese Restaurant at 6302 Frankford and Bingham's Smokehouse at 3312 82nd Street.

And also making the grade, Edible Arrangements at 8215 University, M'lisa's at 5610 Frankford Avenue and River Smith's Restaurant at 8222 University Avenue.
