Three separate accidents kept area emergency crews busy Thursday afternoon

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Five cars, a school bus and a backhoe were all involved in separate accidents on Lubbock roadways Thursday afternoon. The three accidents actually occurred in Lubbock, near Posey, and Wolfforth within minutes of each other.

The first two car accident happened just before 4 p.m. on the Brownfield Highway at F.M. 1585. Officials tell KCBD NewsChannel 11 that one vehicle crossed in front of another, and was hit. Everyone involved in the wreck walked away with minor injuries.

Plus, on the Slaton Highway near Posey around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, a truck hauling a backhoe ended up in the ditch. The driver, Raul Benevides, was taken to University Medical Center with moderate injuries. It is unknown what caused the accident.

NewsChannel 11 was on the scene of three vehicle accident involving a school bus. It happened just before 4 p.m. at 38th and Flint. There were no children on the bus at the time, only the bus driver. Two people in other vehicles suffered minor injuries. Police say a vehicle ran a stop sign and hit the school bus, causing another vehicle hit the bus.
