LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Baby slings are trendy and so convenient for new moms and the babies tucked in there usually look pretty cozy, but could those slings be harmful to the baby?

The Consumer Products Safety Commission is looking into that because of seven recent deaths reported in babies using slings. A formal report is expected in a week, until then, the CPSC says it suspects the problem is not the sling, but how some people are using it.

So, this advice from the manufacturer is to never put a young baby deep into the sling where you can't see them. Instead of slipping into a tight curved position inside the sling, you want to keep the baby's head out and remember to check the baby often to make sure he or she is riding safely.
