Lady Raiders fall at Big 12 Championships

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - At the Big 12 Championships in Kansas City, the 8th seeded Texas Tech Lady Raiders lost to 9th seeded Kansas State 59-51.

Tech trailed 26-20 at the half and the Lady Wildcats opened up a 9 point 2nd half lead…..but the Lady Raiders kept fighting, cutting the lead to 2 with 3:30 left. However, Kansas State made some clutch shots to stretch the lead back out to 7 and hold off Texas Tech's rally.

After missing 1 game due to her broken nose suffered from being punched by Brittany Griner of Baylor, sophomore Jordan Barncastle was cleared to play by the Texas Tech medical staff and returned to the starting lineup, wearing a mask to protect her nose.

Griner is finishing up her 2 game suspension and will miss Baylor's game with Colorado later today.

The Lady Raiders have lost 4 straight and with a 17-14 record, most likely have lost a chance at making the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005. Tech will have to settle for a WNIT bid.
