Boys Tournament Coverage sponsored by:A year after coming up short for the Class 3A State Title, the Estacado Matadors are back in Austin to State their case. In the State Semifinals, the Matadors topped #22 Stafford 45-40 to move into Saturdays' 10am Championship.
The Matadors jumped out to an 11-4 lead but the Spartans hung around the whole game. With the win Estacado meets defending champion Dallas Madison who beat Silsbee 67-63. Madison beat Estacado last year in the title game 68-66 in overtime.
Estacado gets a second chance on Saturday to win the State title as they meet Madison at 10am.
Our other area boys teams at State play Friday. Idalou meets #1 New Waverly at 8:30am in Class 2A and in 1A Division II #2 Nazareth plays #1 Slocum at 7pm.
