LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Where you store your vitamins may determine how effective they are. That's according to a new study which shows high humidity levels, like those in bathrooms and kitchens can degrade the potency of vitamin C and other vitamins. The effectiveness can be compromised fast, no matter how tight the lid is.
Researchers at Perdue University found vitamin C can break down within one week when high amounts of humidity and moisture seeps in as the bottle is opened and closed. The first sign a vitamin has deteriorated is brown spots, especially on children's vitamins.
