City May Save $45,000 In Uncontested Race

Wednesday April 2nd, 5p.m. was the deadline for candidates wishing to run for the District-6 Lubbock City Council seat. Right now, Lubbock resident, Jim Gilbreath is the only candidate. But, anyone still wishing to run has until April 7th to register as a write in candidate.

If Gilbreath is still uncontested, the city will not put the race on the ballot and swear Gilbreath in after the May 3rd Election. By doing so, City Secretary Becky Garza says the city will save around $45,000.
