LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Childress man remained jailed for in Lubbock County Saturday night for attempted murder of a good Samaritan.  Authorities say Oran Starkey, 39 opened fire on Matthew Cisneros, 27 Friday afternoon, about a quarter mile west of County Road 3700 on U.S. Highway 62/82.

Investigators say Cisneros stopped to offer help to Starkey who appeared stranded on the side of the road. They say Starkey declined help at first, but changed his mind and asked Cisneros to stay in case he needed a ride.

Authorities say Starkey then returned to his car, retrieved two pistols and fired at least eight times. Fortunately Cisneros was not injured.

An Idalou Police Officer arrested Starkey at the scene and took him into custody. The Lubbock County Sheriff's Office is conducting the investigation.
