Nazareth wins state title with 52-43 win over Grady

AUSTIN, TX (KCBD) -

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Sage Black scored 24 points and Nazareth won its fifth state championship since 2002 with a 52-43 win over Lenorah Grady in the Class 1A Division II final.

Ryan Birkenfeld added 11 points for Nazareth (30-7), which returned to the state tournament after losing in the 2009 final. Dylan Cox scored 25 for Lenorah Grady (34-6). Nazareth scored 44-27 in the fourth before Cox scored nine in an 11-2 run that cut the lead to eight. Sage Black's layup for Nazareth pushed the lead back to 48-38 with two minutes to play.

Nazareth held Lenorah Grady to 29 percent shooting.
