LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A federal judge on Friday approved the latest legal fees related to the seizure of Benny Judah's assets.
Judah is now serving a 20 year prison sentence after pleading guilty to charges related to a Ponzi scheme. Investors, primarily from the Lubbock area, stand to lose up to $40 million. The court appointed Receivership Trustee submitted expenses of $258,342 for legal and accounting expenses.
The Trustee controls Excel Lease Funds; The Falls Tennis & Athletic Center; Las Brisas Restaurants in Lubbock and Amarillo; Zoo-Kini's restaurants in Lubbock, Abilene, and San Angelo; Harrigan's restaurant chain in Lubbock and Odessa; and Moose Magoo's restaurant. Las Brisas, Harrigan's, and ZooKini's are currently for sale on the Receiver's web site.
