18 food establishments on the agenda for City health inspectors this week, and out of all those, just one superstar. You'll see no Low Performers in this week's report and on the top performing side of things, one local restaurant stands alone. It's a familiar location with a new look and a new name, and as of today they've been open for just over a week. Let's end the suspense and check out who it is in this week's edition of NewsChannel 11's Food for Thought.
One week down and already a perfect score. Christakis Burgers at 1111 34th Street is a Food for Thought Top Performer this week with zero critical violations. "Well, we've done this before and we all strive to keep our customers satisfied and we all do teamwork and we just all have our little area where everybody works," says Owner Melissa Rodriguez.
Rodriguez has been in the restaurant business for 17 years, and had her eye on this building for a long time. About 20 years ago, it started as Bobby's Burger Patch, then it was Mr. Lee's and now it's Christakis, named after Melissa's 5-year-old son. "It's a Greek name and we have a lot of Greek food also, we also have breakfast, lunch and dinner."
Melissa says she and her staff can't wait to bring their product to the public. "They're going to get a big portion for sure and everything's going to be fresh and we're going to have nice friendly service and the place is going to be clean."
