Cryotherapy as treatment for breast cancer

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - This is a small study, but it shows that Cryotherapy may be another successful way to treat breast cancer. Radiologists at Wayne State in Detroit tested Cryotherapy on 13 breast cancer patients who did not want to have surgery.

In cryotherapy, extremely cold gas is inserted directly into the tumor that essentially kills the cancer by freezing it. The procedure killed the cancerous tumor and 5 years later, the cancer has not returned in any of the 13 patients.

Researchers at Wayne State University and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, mi, are scheduled to present their findings at the annual meeting of the society of interventional Radiology
