A little piece of Ireland in Lubbock

Posted:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Irish-Lubbockites looking for their pot of gold could find it in the local Irish shop located on 34th Street.

From the moment you walk into J. Patrick's Irish Goods' Antiques, it's like leaving Lubbock and entering the Emerald Isle.

NewsChannel 11 spoke to the owner of J. Patrick's Irish Goods' Antiques, Jacque Hastings, about St. Patrick's Day.

"Everything here like I say... Everything in my shop comes from Ireland and is made in Ireland. We're always looking for something unusual and something that they are doing in Ireland that maybe they aren't doing in the United States."

"My husband's family was from Ireland. He was raised by his Irish Grandmother here in the United States, he was born on St. Patrick's Day and he was named Patrick. Now you have to know Patrick is a very sacred name for Ireland it was very coincidental that he was born on St. Patrick's Day and named Patrick I guess."

"It was always a big day in our life and in our family. Ireland is known for forty shades of green and we wear it just because we have Irish ancestors and it's just kind of got started as a fun tradition. So I'll pinch ya if you don't have on green. They always think it's fun to be Irish for a day."
