LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -  The taste of the Windy City has blown into downtown Lubbock.

"It's real authentic Chicago. It's the best, closest thing without having to take a plane ride out there to Chicago," said Tony Aguilar, the namesake and owner of Fat Tony's Delicatessen.

Aguilar opened the doors at 1101 Main Street just more than a month ago, and he's already cooking up a perfect health inspection. "To be a Top Performer was not just myself, a lot of people came and helped here."

With authentic Vienna Beef direct from Chi-Town, Tony specializes in "Chicago Style" hot dogs, Polish Sausage and Philly cheese steaks. But what's his secret to perfection?

"The secret is: just care about what you're doing. Then, knowing that you've got a great product that you want to give to people, and people appreciate that. I want to make everything with love. I want people to enjoy it, have an enjoyable time."

Another hot dog joint makes the list this week. Wienerschnitzel at 7102 Quaker also earns its first spot at the top.

Next we head to a multiple repeat top performer. Tom & Bingo's BBQ at 3006 34th isn't just known for its cleanliness. They've been twice recognized by Texas Monthly as one of the top 50 BBQ restaurants in Texas.

Our next stop is the Wing Stop at 6807 Slide Road. This repeat top performer is cluckin' with perfection.

If you're looking for a sweet treat or a light snack - the South Plains Mall is home to four of this week's top performers.

  • Mrs. Field's Cookies
  • Original Great American Cookie Co.
  • Pretzel Marker
  • Candy Wrapper
