LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Area Democrats and Republicans held their county conventions Saturday.  In Lubbock, the Republican Party started at 9:00 a.m. at United Spirit Arena.

They nominated delegates to attend the state convention and hammered out different issues they feel the party should focus on.

"All of this comes together and becomes the party platform for the state of Texas," Lubbock County Republican Party Chair Chris Winn explained.

The Republican State Convention will be held in Dallas in June.

Lubbock County Democrats held their convention at Cavazos Middle School. They also selected delegates to attend the Democratic State Convention to be held in Corpus Christi this year and voted on issues to carry forward as part of the state's Democratic platform.

"Everybody here today is looking for a way to get involved in the political process, geared toward electing Democrats in November," Lubbock County Democratic Chair Pam Brink said.
