LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – What was once a $7 million proposal and the target of criticism as a government boondoggle is now much more modest project. City Council on Thursday is expected to approve approximately $527,000 of improvements to the west wing of the same depot building which houses the Buddy Holly Center.
The Visitor Center will reside in the newly improved space. Improvements include custom made doors and windows and cleaning up the masonry on the outside of the building.
Clarification: Mayor Tom Martin says the City Council's intent is that the entire Buddy Holly Center would function as a Visitor Center. So the depot building would be both a Buddy Holly Center and a Visitor Center simultaneously.
