Former United Supermarkets CEO has a new job

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX and MINNEAPOLIS, MN (KCBD) - The former CEO of United Supermarkets is now the new President of Acme, a division of Supervalu.

According to a report on Philly.com, Supervalu hired Sanders Wednesday. Acme in the Northeast U.S., includes 124 stores, which is more than twice as many as he oversaw at United.

Another website, supermarketnews.com, quotes Sanders as saying "I look forward to being a part of that tradition and doing all that we can to meet the needs — and exceed the expectations — of our customers."

Correction: Sanders was named President of Acme, a division of Supervalu.  He is not President of Supervalu.
