Police say speeding and alcohol may have played a part in a fatal motorcycle accident Monday morning. About three o'clock, 35-year-old, Richard Dworaszyk, of Wolfforth, wrecked his motorcycle at West Loop 289 and the Brownfield Highway.
Sergeant Ronnie Sowell says Dworaszyk was speeding when he hit a curb. He was thrown from the bike into a tree. First Responders say he was not wearing a helmet. He died at University Medical Center. Sowell says if he had been wearing a helmet he may have survived the wreck.
A toxicology report is pending to determine if Dworaszyk had been drinking. This is the ninth traffic fatality in Lubbock this year.
