Lubbock unemployment numbers released; slightly down

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Lubbock's unemployment rate is slightly down according to numbers released Thursday by the Texas Workforce Commission.

Lubbock had an unemployment rate of 6.0% for February, as compared with 6.2% in January. Lubbock is tied with College Station-Bryan for the third lowest rate in Texas.

Amarillo at 5.7% has the lowest followed by Midland at 5.8%. The Lubbock MSA or metropolitan statistical area had an estimated 8,900 unemployed people for February.

That compared with 9,100 unemployed persons in January. The number of people with jobs in the Lubbock MSA went up from 101,100 to 101,600 when comparing January to February. The numbers are not seasonally adjusted.
