Wind and fire destroy Lubbock County home

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - High winds mixed with fire made for a dangerous combination Saturday. Flames destroyed a home near the intersection of FM 2528 and County Road 6150.

Volunteer firefighters responded to a call just after noon. It took the Shallowater, New Deal, and West Carlisle fire departments 3 hours to put out the flames because of the wind. They do not know what caused the fire, but it started outside and wind blew it into the house. By the time crews got there it had spread to the attic.

Fire fighters saved 5 dogs and 4 cats from the fire. Luckily, no one was home. The house is a total loss, and all that remains is the brick frame.
