LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – You've heard the saying what goes around comes around, which the same could be said for a simple workout that's been spinning through the decades and that's the hula hoop, but the newest spin on this craze is called hoop dancing. Christabel Zamor is a hoola hoop instructor and she says this is an intense workout.
"Hoopdance definitely delivers a high body workout. It's not just strength building but also cardiovascular, builds endurance, core strength," Christabel Zamor, a hoola hoop instructor.
Over the past few years, hooping has exploded Across the U.S. Even First Lady Michelle Obama has stepped into the ring. Zamor says an hour of hoop-dancing can burn 600 calories.
"Yes, oh my gosh, especially in your abs, I really can feel it, it's a great strength builder, legs, absolutely," said Kitty Gordan, a hooper.
