LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – A lot of people are hoping that Good Friday will be a good day to buy and drop off a much needed gift for new mothers in this area. The 8th Annual Stork's Nest is coming up next week, but now is the time to start collecting all those new baby items everything from a pacifier to a car seat or crib.  All of these items will be rewarded to young pregnant women who keep up with good pre-natal care.

"The Stork's Nest is a March of Dimes program, it's an incentive program, they earn points every time they go to the doctor, every time they take classes, like parenting classes, nutrition classes, child birth classes," said Linda Brice, M.D., with Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. "They earn points when after the baby is born, going to well baby check-up, immunizations, we want to have nice healthy term babies and this program is designed for that."

You can drop off your baby item, make a cash donation at First Texas Bank, or Dr. Brice says call (806) 241-3652 and someone will go to you to pick up your donation. You can also bring it to the baby shower next Thursday, April 8th, at the International Cultural Center.
