Body found in Buddy Holly Park deemed suspicious death

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Friday morning, Lubbock Police received a call about a body in the picnic area near the waterfall in Buddy Holly Park.

According to police, 66-year-old Egnacio Mendez Jr. apparently died of a gunshot wound.

Police are investigating this case as a suspicious death, but no other information has been released at this time.
