South Plains churches carry a cross on Good Friday

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Good Friday is the Friday within Holy Week, and is traditionally a time of fasting and penance, commemorating the anniversary of Christ's crucifixion and death.

For Christians, Good Friday commemorates not just a historical event, but the sacrificial death of Christ, which with the resurrection, comprises the heart of the Christian faith.

Here on the South Plains, two local churches carried their own cross on Good Friday. Members of St. Joseph's in Crosybyton and St. Michael's in Ralls, walked from Crosbyton to Ralls with a cross. They do the walk every year to commemorate Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection.
