LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Just like Congress and the state legislature must undergo redistricting so does the city of Lubbock. Even though the 2010 Census is not yet done, Lubbock is getting ready.
The city is expected to hire the law firm of Guinn and Morrison to see if redistricting is necessary. If so, the law firm will draw up maps and tables and a reasonable number of proposals.
The law firm will also organize two public hearings and shepherd Lubbock's redistricting plan through the U.S. Department of Justice approval process. Public records say "the current estimate is that these fees should total $20,000 to $25,000 for the two-year period."
