Slaton Bakery receives official historical marker

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A South Plains community receives an historical marker on Saturday, April 10th at 2:00 p.m.

The Lubbock County Historical Commission is dedicating the official Texas Historical Commission Historical Marker for the Slaton Bakery at 109 South 9th Street in Slaton. The public is invited to attend.

The Texas Historical Commission (THC) also recently recognized Lubbock County with the 2009 Distinguished Service Award. The honor will be presented during the meeting of the Commissioners Court on April 12th.

This award recognizes county historical commissioners (CHCs) that have demonstrated a dedication to several of the THC's programs as well as preservation efforts that lead to a greater understanding of state and local history.
