Lubbock sales tax down, some other local cities up

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Lubbock sales tax revenues are down this year compared to last.  Sales taxes are an important indicator of local economic health.  Lubbock sales taxes are down 5.13 percent for April 2010 as compared with April 2009, according to numbers released last week by the state Comptroller. 

Year to date Lubbock sales tax collections are down 2.43 percent.  Around the region sales tax receipts for April 2010 as compared with April 2009 are as follows.

  • Shallowater, down 12.57%
  • Idalou, up 21.35%
  • Slaton, down 3.97%
  • Wolfforth, down 35.38%
  • Plainview, up 5.42%
  • Littlefield, up 1.26%
  • Levelland, down 7.02%
  • Brownfield, down 5.56%
  • Post, up 10.68%
