LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - On the final day of campaigning in the Republican Primary runoff election, and the back and forth accusations between candidates continues.
Incumbent Delwin Jones is fighting to keep his District 83 seat from challenger Charles Perry.
The two have run a heated campaign, during which Perry accused Jones of supporting a bill that gives $33 million in state tuition money to illegal immigrants.
Former representative for District 84 Carl Isett also voted on House Bill 1403 and responds to Perry's accusations.
"So yes, we voted on a bill that gave a benefit to illegal aliens that other Americans don't have," says Isett. "Citizens from Oklahoma or Arkansas, or New Mexico, they don't have the benefit. Yes, we did that."
"If you believe that the legislature did something wrong-headed, you can lay your money down and run for that office if you believe can do a better job. So, regardless of why we did what we did, we did it. And Charles has every right to challenge that decision."
On Tuesday, Republican voters will choose their candidate for this race, and for District 84.
Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., but remember, you must vote in your precinct. Click Here to find a list of those locations.
