LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - District 84 candidates spent their final hours of election day campaigning.
John Frullo talked with voters at polling locations throughout the day. While the mudslinging in this contest hasn't gotten as intense as the District 83 race, they've had some too. Frullo says accusations against him are not true. "Clearly I'm pro education. There was something about a master. I am ruled by a master. He died on a cross over 200 years ago for us. We want to look at PAC money coming from down state. I've been outspent 3 to 1 by my opponent. Some of the negative that's come up at the end is unfounded."
His opponent Mark Griffin spent the day calling voters who hadn't cast a ballot yet. He says he had to respond after negative ads were put out about him. "It's unfortunate. I think it has become the last 2 or 3 weeks. My opponent was continuing to, I think, put forth misrepresentation and at some point in time it was necessary for me to respond to those. I did. If people see that as a negative, so be it. It's really just me protecting my reputation."
Whoever wins the District 84 race will run against Democrat Elizabeth Carol Morgan in the general election in November.
