Safety project to widen portion of FM 835

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will begin a project to widen a section of FM 835 in Lubbock County next week. The four-mile project will make safety improvements to the two-lane roadway, from US 84 to FM 3523.

The project is being funded through the Hazard Elimination Safety program, said Jeremy Dearing, P.E., TxDOT's project engineer.

"This state and federally funded roadway program has allotted funding to make a variety of safety improvements including widening narrow two-lane roads across the state," Dearing added.

Contractor for the FM 835 project is J. Lee Milligan, Inc., of Amarillo. Work on $417, 922.55 road widening project is expected to complete in late-June.
