LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – A Prison guard from Post was brought to the Lubbock County Jail in handcuffs late Thursday afternoon.
A Lubbock federal grand jury charged the prison guard with two felonies on Wednesday; false representation of U.S. citizenship and false statement in application of a passport. KCBD NewsChannel 11 shot exclusive video of federal agents bringing in Jose Luis Ramirez Pizarro to the Lubbock County Jail.
Ramirez-Pizarro was arrested outside the Dalby Prison unit. The Giles Dalby Correctional Facility is owned by Garza County and run by a private company. The Garza County Judge tells KCBD NewsChannel 11 that there is a no tolerance policy, and he says there will be a full investigation.
Ramirez-Pizarro's family rushed to the jail with his birth certificate and court papers. They say they were shocked to hear the news and say there must be a misunderstanding.
"He's been to court already twice. I have documents from a judge who has already cleared him as a U.S. Citizen. He applied for a passport and was denied and applied again and was picked up. He works in a facility detaining illegals and it's ironic he would go and look for a job there it makes no sense what so ever," says Ramirez-Pizarro's brother-in-law Manuel Mendez.
Ramirez-Pizarro is expected to appear in court Friday morning.
